The Clarendon Hills Village Board voted to increase the village’s water rates by 10 percent effective this month, according to a statement released today.
The increase comes on the heels of a 10 percent rate increase approved by the DuPage Water Commission.
The village estimated the increase to equate to an additional $79 per year, based on the average customer’s usage of 100,000 gallons of water per year, the statement said.
Because the village’s water mains are at least 48 years old, the statement also said that it is in the village’s best interest to maintain a viable water fund to ensure adequate investment in the aging of infrastructure and any unforeseen problems.
