Service van burglarized
Tools were reported stolen from a service van in the 0 to 100 block of North La Grange Road at 1:30 p.m. July 1. Police said the lock had been punched out of the driver’s door to the vehicle. A drill and a telephone testing set valued at $400 was stolen.
Parked car reported keyed
A vehicle parked in the 0 to 100 block of La Grange Road was reported to have been deliberately scratched shortly after midnight July 2. Police said the vehicle appeared to have been keyed. Damage is estimated at $500.
WESTCHESTER
Man charged with DUI
A 19-year-old Riverside man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a report of a man yelling and screaming in his vehicle at 1:19 a.m. June 21.
Police were called to the 2500 block of Camberly Circle where they saw Zachary Johnson, 370 Audubon Road, driving away in a car described to them by the complainant. Johnson failed both field sobriety and breathalyzer tests, according to police.
Pitbull puppies stolen
Two Pitbull puppies were reported stolen from a yard on the 900 block of Westchester Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. June 19.
Both dogs, named Zeus and Noler, are 9 months old and described as very friendly, according to police.
Jewelry, fur stolen
Jewelry worth $20,000 and a $16,000 sable coat were reported stolen from a home in the 11300 block of Monticello Place June 27.
A resident told police she had returned home at about 11:30 a.m. after being gone for less than an hour and discovered the items missing. Police said the front door of the house may have been left unlocked.
Drug possession alleged
A man was charged with possession of a controlled substance after being arrested at a gas station shortly after midnight June 24.
Officers were called to the BP Amoco, 825 Mannheim Road, by a clerk who reported Michael Villwock, 21, of Geneva was in the washroom shooting up heroin, police said.
Police said officers found Villwock with a hypodermic needle and several packets of heroin totaling less than 15 grams.
GPS, camera taken from car
Items valued at more than $1,000 were reported stolen from an unlocked SUV in the 1300 block of Hull Avenue at 9:15 p.m. June 23.
The owner of the vehicle told police a global positioning system unit, a phone charger, a Sony Cybershot camera and sunglasses were stolen.
The passenger side door was unlocked at the time of the theft, police said.
Police: Man bites woman
A man was charged with domestic battery after he allegedly grabbed a woman by
the throat and then bit her face at about
midnight June 29.
Police were called to the 10000 block of Elizabeth Street after a resident reported a woman screaming. Police found a 19-year-old woman in front of the house who said Marvin Green, 20, of Westchester grabbed her throat then carried her into an alley where he bit and scratched her face.
Greer was arrested when he exited the house, police sad.The woman refused medical treatment.

Online chat leads to charges
Andrew W. Webb, 20, of Munster, Ind., was arrested at 1:40 p.m. June 19 at 47th Street and Lawndale Avenue in Lyons and charged with indecent grooming of a child.
The arrest started from an investigation that began when, according to police, the offender allegedly solicited indecent liberties in online conversations with a Western Springs investigator, who posed as a 16-year-old.
Western Springs police and the Major Case Assistance Team worked together on making this arrest.
Webb was charged with indecent grooming of a child, a class 4 felony.
