The man accused of killing Jason Dragos, the Highland, Ind., man who was discovered shot to death in a Burr Ridge trucking company Feb. 9, will remain in DuPage County Jail after a motion to set bail by the defendant’s attorneys recently was denied by a DuPage County judge.

John Gilbert, 45, of Chicago, was charged in March with first degree murder in the death of Dragos, 38, an employee of SAIA Trucking in Burr Ridge. Gilbert was held without bond.

On May 14 the attorney defending Gilbert filed a motion to set bail, a motion that was denied June 9 by Judge George Bakalis.

According to authorities, Dragos’ wife reported her husband missing after he failed to return from a work-related function at the truck terminal Feb. 8.

When employees at the firm searched the grounds Feb. 9, they discovered the body of Dragos on the second floor of the truck terminal, according to the DuPage County Sheriff’s office. Dragos’ car was in the parking lot of the terminal when he was discovered inside the building, police said.

Gilbert, who was arrested at his home in Chicago on March 7, also was an employee at SAIA Trucking, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney Office.

Gilbert was charged in DuPage County on March 9.
