With its back planted firmly against the wall, Lyons Township’s football team came through with its best performance of the season to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Knowing that one more loss would eliminate them from the playoffs for the first time since 2001, the Lions put it all together on offense and defense. The end result was a 41-12 win over host Proviso West Saturday in Hillside.

Nazareth Academy’s football team had no problem moving the ball up and down the field Friday night against Benet in Lisle in an East Suburban Catholic Conference matchup.
Unfortunately for the Roadrunners, despite running 81 plays for 342 yards, they were almost their own worst enemy, committing 11 penalties for 95 yards. Nazareth was able to overcome those miscues to top the host Redwings 24-7, though.
