A 31-year-old California man on parole for attempted murder was charged with one count of felony burglary and one count of felony criminal damage to property for the Lyons burglary of the Cuts for Less hair salon, 7840 Ogden Ave., on Dec. 18.

Lyons police attempted to stop a vehicle early Dec. 21 about 12:45 a.m. for suspicion of burglary. The vehicle, a 1989 Cadillac Deville with Nevada license plates, fled the Lyons officer from the 4300 block of South Harlem Avenue and continued onto the Interstate 55 Stevenson Expressway.

The vehicle continued northbound on the Stevenson until the engine blew and the car came to a stop just east of Cicero Avenue, according to police reports. Two suspects fled the vehicle on foot and one suspect was arrested in the 4300 block of Knox Avenue in Chicago.

The suspect, Jedison Olando Gear Jr., 31, of Apple Valley, Calif., has been staying in Chicago since August. Gear is currently on parole for attempted murder in Sacramento in 2005.

It was later determined Gear was stopped by Lyons police moments after committing a burglary at the O’Reilly Auto Parts, 3743 S. Harlem Ave., Berwyn. He was later charged by Berwyn police for that burglary. Gear remains a suspect in the burglary of Luxury Nails, located a few doors down from Cuts for Less, which occurred about the same time as the burglary of the hair salon.

The second suspect is still at large and was last seen running southbound Cicero Avenue from Interstate 55, near an industrial area.
