
On Friday, June 26, the Brookfield Historical Society will host Carla W. Owens of Chicago, one of the authors of “Brookfield Zoo and the Chicago Zoological Society,” a book of 230 historical images of the zoo.
The book looks at the origins of the zoo as well as its conservation, enviromental education and animal care efforts.
The free presentation will be held at the historic Grossdale Station at 8820 1/2 Brookfield Ave. The event is open to the public and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Book copies will be available for purchase and author signing.
