Metra and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway will be closing the crossing into Brookfield’s South Hollywood neighborhood at 9 a.m. Friday, July 10.
The crossing will tentatively reopen at 9 a.m. July 20. Signs have been placed at the crossing notifying residents of the closing. All public safety departments have been notified of the closing and will coordinate any required response based on the road closure.
Metra/BSNF had originally planned to complete the construction work in June, but that timeline was pushed back several months. The village of Brookfield has worked with both agencies to modify the timeline so that the crossing work will be completed before the start of the school year.
