The Village of Brookfield is still accepting entries for the second annual village-wide Garden Contest.
The contest is being sponsored by the Brookfield Beautification Committee. The purpose of the contest is twofold — to give residents a chance to show off their gardens and to help make Brookfield a more beautiful place to live.
In order to have your garden be eligible for the contest, certain criteria must be met. First, the garden must be on residential property in Brookfield that conforms to all village codes. In addition, the garden must be visible from the street, be well tended and be “remarkable for the design or originality.”
Any gardens in the running must also have “pleasing combinations of plant materials” as well as “enhance the look of the neighborhood.”
Contest entries are being accepted until July 20. Send all entries to the Brookfield Beautification Committee at 8820 Brookfield Ave. Judging will take place in August. For more information, visit the “In the News” link on www.brookfieldil.gov.
