RIVERSIDE
Man charged with DUI
Petr Albert, 35, of Berwyn was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 12:50 a.m.  Oct. 15. at Ogden and Powell avenues.

Albert was driving southbound on Harlem Avenue without headlights on, police said. An officer then saw Albert’s car drift into the other lane, police said. The man made an illegal turn onto Ogden Avenue and was stopped at Ogden and Powell avenues, police said.

Albert was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, according to police. His blood-alcohol content was 0.236 percent, more than the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

He was charged with DUI, driving without lights when required, improper turn and improper lane usage.

BROOKFIELD
Man faces DUI charge
A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding in the 3200 block of Prairie Avenue.

Kristian Kunder, 35, of Oak Park, was driving westbound on 31st Street, and officers confirmed his speed as 48 mph in a 30 mph zone.

An officer stopped the vehicle in the 3200 block of Prairie Avenue.

Upon speaking with Kunder, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his mouth and breath, red, glassy eyes and slurred speech.

Kunder agreed to field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was arrested and found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.186 percent, more than the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Man nets burglary charge
A man was arrested for allegedly stealing scrap metal from cars at Brookfield Muffler and Brakes, 9501 Ogden Ave., at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 15.

Vincent Micko, 25, of Downers Grove was seen climbing the fence at the auto repair shop and taking scrap metal, police said. Micko then entered another lot at 9507 Ogden Ave. and was seen entering cars in that lot, according to police.

Responding officers arrested Micko for three counts of burglary from a motor vehicle and two counts of criminal trespass.

The owner of Brookfield Muffler and Brakes was contacted and told police nothing was missing from his cars.

DUI alleged
A man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 6:50 a.m. Oct. 12 at Ogden  and DuBois avenues.

Joseph Kern, 33, of Lombard was driving westbound on Ogden Avenue without headlights on, police said. The vehicle was weaving back and forth across two lanes of traffic before being pulled over, according to police.

Kern was issued citations for driving without headlamps when required, improper lane usage and no proof of valid insurance.

Garage burglarized
Officers responded to a home in the 3500 block of Harrison Avenue for a report of a garage burglary at about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 12.

The victim told police that between Oct. 10 and 12, someone had entered his garage and stolen several items.

A Toro electric lawn mower and a tool cart were taken. The door to the garage was damaged and had been pried open.

LA GRANGE PARK
Boy on bicycle hit by car
A 16-year-old La Grange Park boy was struck by a car while crossing La Grange Road on his bicycle about 3 p.m. Oct. 11.

Police said Richard Kartzmark, 18, of the 900 block of Robin Hood Lane, La Grange Park was turning left from Harding Avenue into the southbound lanes of La Grange Road as the traffic signal was turning yellow. His car struck the boy in the crosswalk, according to police.

Police said boy was treated and released from La Grange Adventist Memorial Hospital. Kartzmark was ticketed for failure to yield while making a left turn and for not having a driver’s license on his person.

LA GRANGE
Drug charges levied
Two women face charges involving marijuana and underage drinking following a traffic stop at 8:16 p.m. Oct. 16.

Police said a car driven by Joie Davidson, 17, 4544 Park Ave., Brookfield was stopped for having a burned out headlight at the intersection of Bluff and Elm avenues when officers noticed a smell of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The passenger, Jami Halusek, 18, 235 S. La Grange Road, La Grange was charged with possession of marijuana.

Davidson was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor and driving with only one headlight.

WESTCHESTER
Van windows broken
Two windows were reported broken on a van belonging to Lorenzo’s Frozen Foods, 9904 Roosevelt Road, at 7 a.m. Oct. 15. Police said a rock was found in the front seat of the vehicle.

Jewelry theft reported
Several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen from a home in what police described as a gypsy scam at 7 p.m. Oct. 14.

The owner of a home in the 1200 block of Boeger Avenue told police she answered a loud knock on her door and a man asked her about putting up a fence.

The man then asked to look at the backyard from a rear window. The resident said she was talking to the man for several minutes when she saw another man walking out of her bedroom, police said.

Both men then left the house and fled in a black mid-sized vehicle, according to police.

The woman said she then checked the bedroom where the man had been and discovered several pieces of jewelry had been stolen from a jewelry box, police added.

Retail theft alleged
A man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly attempted to steal a pregnancy test kit at 7 p.m. Oct. 13, police said.

Police said Christopher Kile, 38, of Wheaton was seen putting a white box under his shirt at Walgreens drug store, 10345 Roosevelt Road, by a store employee.

Kile was stopped by police in the 1300 block of Roosevelt Road after he ran from the store.

Burglary attempt reported
An attempted burglary was reported at a home in the 2900 block of Downing Street at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

The resident told police a man in a black Toyota SUV parked in his driveway and said he was a roofer looking for work and distracted him in the backyard of the home.

The resident then entered his home where he found two other men inside.
All three men then fled in the vehicle.

Police said nothing appeared missing, but the bedrooms had been ransacked.

Rock thrown at house
A window was broken by a rock in the 1500 block of Concord Street at 7 p.m. Oct. 12. Police said the rock also struck and damaged a glass coffee table in the front room. Damage is estimated at $350.
 
Liquor theft reported
A man was charged with felony retail theft after he left a store without paying for two cases of liquor and other items at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11, according to police.

Police said Robert Cucinotta, 34, of Melrose Park was seen by an employee of Dominick’s Finer Foods, 320 Wolf Road, leave the store with a case of Jack Daniel’s whiskey, a case of Bacardi rum, and several packages of paper towels and toilet paper.

Cucinotta then left the parking lot in a car driven by a woman, which was stopped by police at the corner of Roosevelt and Wolf roads.

Police said Cucinotta gave a verbal statement admitting to the theft. The driver was not charged, police said.
