RIVERSIDE
Revoked license charged
A man was arrested for driving with a revoked license at about 10 p.m. Nov. 10.

David Garcia, 31, of Hodgkins, was driving without a seat belt at 45 E. Burlington St., police said.

An officer on patrol stopped the vehicle and Garcia could not provide a license or insurance.

Upon running his name, the officer found an active warrant for driving with a revoked license out of DuPage County and learned his license was still revoked, police said.

Garcia was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated driving while license revoked. He was cited for driving while license revoked, no insurance and failure to wear a properly fastened seat belt, police said.

He had a bond hearing on Nov. 11 at the Maybrook Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive in Maywood.

Men arrested for DUI
A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at about 2:25 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 2600 block of South Harlem Avenue.

Erik Krawczyk, 21, of Brookfield, was parked halfway out of the driveway at the intersection of Harlem Avenue and 26th Street, police said. His vehicle was blocking traffic.

When officers approached the vehicle, Krawczyk jumped out of the car and tackled a pedestrian on 26th Street, police said. The officer separated Krawczyk and the pedestrian, Darin Gibas, 20, a friend of Krawczyk.

Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Gibas’ breath and he was arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor. He refused to press battery charges against Krawczyk, police said.

Upon speaking with Krawczyk, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Krawczyk failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence. He had a blood alcohol content of 0.213 percent, almost three times over the legal limit, police said.

The men were released on bond. They have a court date at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Maybrook Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive in Maywood.

Man arrested for DUI
A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at about 1 a.m. Nov. 13 in the 4400 block of South Harlem Avenue.

Eric Ramirez, 22, of Chicago, was swerving in and out of lanes of traffic on Harlem Avenue, police said. He was observed traveling 67 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was stopped in the 4400 block of south Harlem Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.

He had a blood alcohol content of 0.142 percent, police said. He was cited for driving under the influence, improper lane usage and speeding.

He was released on bond and has a court date at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Maybrook Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive in Maywood.

Man arrested for DUI
A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at about 4:10 a.m. Nov. 15 at the intersection of 1st Avenue and the zoo woods.

Jeremy Purnell, 27, of Maywood, was driving 10 mph in a 35 mph zone. Both of the passenger side tires were flat, and Purnell was driving on the tire rims, police said.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Purnell failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He had a blood alcohol content of 0.154, police said.

He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a blood alcohol content over 0.08 and violating the minimum speed restriction.

He has a court date at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Maybrook Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive in Maywood.

BROOKFIELD
Man arrested for DUI
A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at about 1:25 a.m. Nov. 12 at the intersection of Ogden Avenue and DuBois Boulevard.

Juan Rodriguez, 29, of Chicago, was swerving across lanes of traffic on westbound Ogden Avenue, police said. Officers stopped the vehicle in the 9500 block of Ogden Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his mouth and breath and observed that he had red, glassy eyes.

Rodriguez refused all field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was issued citations for driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and driving without a seat belt, police said.

He was released on bond. He has a court date at 9 a.m. Dec. 22 at the Maybrook Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive in Maywood.

Worker cited for illegal sale
A woman was cited for selling tobacco to a minor at about 6:10 p.m. Nov. 13 at the CVS pharmacy at 8911 Ogden Avenue.

Christine Cantrell, 42, of Lyons, sold a pack of cigarettes to a 16-year-old police agent who was in the store with a Brookfield police officer to do a compliance check, police said.

The minor gave Cantrell her valid Illinois driver’s license that showed she was 16 and was still able to purchase cigarettes. Cantrell was cited for the sale of tobacco to a minor, police said.

She is scheduled to appear at the next adjudication hearing, which will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Avenue.

Debit card fraud reported
A Brookfield woman came into the police station at about 8:30 a.m. Nov. 12 to report that an unknown person had used her bank debit card without her permission.

The woman received a call from the First National Bank of Brookfield on Nov. 11 about possible fraudulent activity in her checking account, police said. Several charges were on the statement from Nov. 9-11, that ranged from $5 to $50, totaling $200.

Identity theft reported
A Brookfield man came into the police station at about 1:40 p.m. Nov. 9 to report that someone had been using his credit card.

He received a bill in the mail from MAC cosmetics for $212 worth of products that he did not buy.

He contacted MasterCard, and they told him that there had been $4,300 worth of purchases during the last few days. He canceled his credit cards and was advised to make a police report, police said.

The MAC cosmetics were shipped to a Chicago address.

WESTCHESTER
Items stolen in burglary
An iPod and other items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Hull Avenue at 3 p.m. Oct. 11.

Also reported stolen were 30 CDs, three flashlights, gloves, a gray camera bag with measuring scales and tapes, an electric caliper, rechargeable batteries and two high-speed flash cards.

House burglary reported
Change amounting to $50 was stolen in a residential burglary in the 1100 block of Bristol Avenue reported at 8 p.m. Nov. 10.

Police said a rear door to the home had been forced open. A desk drawer was broken into and several dresser drawers were ransacked.

Signs tagged with graffiti
Several street signs were reported tagged with graffiti on Gladstone Avenue between Manchester and Norfolk avenues at 5 p.m. Nov. 9.

The village’s community service officer said electrical utility boxes in the area also were marked with a black marker.

Two men attacked
Two 20-year-old Westchester men were injured when they were attacked by three teenagers at a gas station at about 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

Police said the men were inside the Westchester Shell, 10200 Roosevelt Road, when three teenagers came in, then flashed gang signs as one of the men started beating him. The other man was also struck when he went to the aid of the victim.

The three teenagers then fled in a white, mid-sized vehicle westbound on Roosevelt Road.
The two men refused treatment for their injuries.

LA GRANGE
Gutter stolen from church
A copper downspout was reported stolen from a church at about noon Nov. 12.  Police said the gutter was removed from St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 N Spring Ave. No other damage reported.
