Over the past few years Brookfield Zoo has seen many exciting births of creatures large and small.
The zoo, which is managed by the Chicago Zoological Society, often plans births with the help of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and its breeding program to continue the survival of extremely endangered species. Other births are not as expected.
Some exciting arrivals over the past few years include a red bird of paradise, piglets, wombats, a white-cheeked gibbon, 100 seahorses, camels, rock hyraxes and Hudson the polar bear.
