• Burr Ridge resident Michael McNamara and La Grange residents Mark McMahon and Christine Vaccarello received degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, during May commencement exercises.

• Broadview residents Kelli Brown and Josephine Thomas; Burr Ridge resident George Plamootill; La Grange residents Sara Hamilton, Shana Kutok and Jeffrey Mudd; La Grange Park resident Brian Keller; and Western Springs resident Christina DePasquale received degrees from Benedictine University, Lisle, during spring commencement ceremonies.

• Louis Scannicchio of Westchester received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Boston University, Mass., during May commencement exercises.

• Jennifer Biela of Brookfield was named to the spring-semester dean’s list at Loyola University, Chicago.

• Daniel Smith of Western Springs was named to the spring-semester dean’s list at Vanderbilt University, Tenn. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

• Brookfield resident Vincent Razionale; Burr Ridge residents Ross Andrese, Vivek Kulkarni, Douglas Story and Amit Mittal; and Riverside resident Julia Goldberg were named to the spring-semester dean’slist at Washington University, St. Louis. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.

• Bret Culen of Burr Ridge was named to the spring-semester dean’s list at Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa. To be recognized on the dean’s list, a student must attain a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.

• Aaron Kral of North Riverside has enrolled at the University of Illinois at Chicago for the 2007-08 academic year. He is a June graduate of Fenwick High School, Oak Park.

• Burr Ridge residents Indu Anand and Griffin Baum were named to the spring-semester dean’s list at Emory College, Atlanta. Students must be in the top 20 percent or achieve a minimum 3.853 grade-point average to be recognized.

• Valerie Janowski of Countryside is completing her journalism internship through the Department of Journalism at Ball State University, Muncie, Ind. She is a senior majoring in photojournalism and news editorial and is working with the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington.

• Hallie Kyrias of Brookfield was awarded an environmental health internship at the Village of Oak Park. She is assisting the environmental health practitioners in the inspection, remediation and prevention of West Nile Virus, as well as responding to citizen complaints and reported epidemics. Kyrias is a resource ecology major at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
