Sam Telfer’s all-state finish boosted Lyons Township’s boys cross country team into fifth place Saturday in Peoria.
Telfer finished 24th in 15:00 at Detweiller Park as the Lions scored 234 points. Neuqua Valley won its second title in three years with 99 points.
Mike Moore (39th), Robbie Kucera (68th), Matt Holt (81st) and Stu Newstat (91st) completed the scoring.
Andrew Allabastro (142nd) and Robby Keeler (156th) also competed.
Lyons Township girls
The Lions broke into the top 10 as a team with 267 points. Palatine won the title with 99.
Lisa Gordon (46th), Carly Rocco (76th), Eliza Dudley (78th), Randie Speir (86th) and Juliet Lusson (93rd) provided the scoring.
MaryClare Flaherty and Kat Bruck also ran for LT.
