Car reported damaged in attempted burglary
The dashboard of a car was damaged in what police believe was an attempted theft of a sound system Sept. 13.

The owner of the car told police he heard a noise in the middle of the night outside his home on 100 block of Washington Street. The next morning he discovered the rear passenger-side window shattered. Damage is estimated at $500.

Chicago woman pulled over because of no seat belt
Ayeshia R. Floyd, 26, of Chicago was charged with aggravated driving with a suspended license after being arrested at about 11:45 p.m. Sept. 18 on the 4200 block of Grove Avenue, according to reports.

Officers saw Floyd driving without her seat belt, police said. Officers later discovered her license was suspended for driving under the influence, according to reports.

Cicero man pulled over, charged with DUI
Joseph Ortega, 22, 5636 W. 35th St.,  Cicero, was charged with driving under the influence after being arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 21 on the 4100 block of Arthur Avenue, according to reports.

Ortega said he was driving his girlfriend home when the driver’s side front wheel fell off the car, causing him to lose control, according to reports. Ortega failed the field sobriety test and refused a Breathalyzer, according to reports.

Man caught during attempted bike theft
Kevin Halligan, 46, 3923 Madison Ave.,  Brookfield, was charged with attempted theft after being arrested at 4:30 p.m. at the Brookfield train station on Prairie Avenue, according to reports.

Police responded when a witness called to say a man had tampered with his bike and now was running down the train tracks, according to reports.

Riverside
North Riverside woman charged with DUI
Andrea Rodriguez, 31, 8018 W. 27th St., North Riverside, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence after being arrested at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 21 on the 3300 block of Harlem Avenue, according to reports.

Officers said they observed Rodriguez to be asleep at the wheel of her vehicle. She said she was unable to find her driver’s license and gave the officer her wallet asking him to look for it, police said. The officers found her license was suspended, police said.

A breathalyzer test revealed that she had a blood alcohol content of .229, according to police.
Rodriguez also was charged with driving while her license was suspended, driving without insurance and improper stopping on the roadway, according to reports.

Lyons man arrested on illegal weapon charge
Dana Jones, 30, 8137 White Ave., Lyons, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, driving under the influence and speeding after being arrested at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at 5:30 a.m. at Harlem and Ogden avenues. Police said they were conducting stationary radar and detected Jones’ car traveling 49 mph in a 30 mph zone.  While searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded 9 MM Kal-Tec pistol under the passenger seat with the serial number scratched off, police said.

Westchester
Purse taken from shopping cart
A purse containing $100 and a checkbook was snatched from a shopping cart in a grocery store at about 10:45 a.m. Sept. 14, police said. The victim told police she did not see anyone take the purse while she was shopping at Jewel-Osco, 2128 Mannheim Road.

Palos Hill man charged with drunken driving
Christopher Rudolph, 27, of Palos Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use after being arrested at about 10:15 p.m. Sept. 14, police said.

Rudolph was driving south on Mannheim Road just south of Cermak Road, when an officer noticed his vehicle drifting between lanes, police said. Rudolph said he had two beers and agreed to take a breathalyzer, which showed a blood alcohol level of .095.

Man arrested after driving vehicle with missing tire
A Westchester man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 16 after Lyons police officers noticed his vehicle was completely missing a tire.

Richard Peska, 26, 2332 Sherwood Ave., was driving north on Wolf Road near 31st Street at about 6:30 p.m. when the officers saw the missing tire, police said.

$1,600 in tools taken from van
Police said $1,600 in tools were removed from a van parked in a driveway on the 1400 block of High Ride Parkway, between 6 p.m. Sept. 20 and 7 p.m. Sept. 21, police said.

The victim told police a radio, a planer, a tool box and drywall hand tools were missing. There were no signs of forced entry near the van, police said.
