Brookfield
Liquor bottle found in car
Anastasia Strauther, 22, of Maywood, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence Oct. 12 after being arrested at about 2:15 a.m. on the 9000 block of Ogden Avenue, according to police reports.

Strauther was driving 65 mph in a 30 mph zone and weaving, police said.

The woman could not show proof of driver’s license or insurance and failed the field sobriety test, police said. Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and located one more-than-half-empty bottle of vodka between the driver and passenger seat, according to reports.

DUI arrest made at car wash
Joseph Powers, 22, of Orland Park was charged with driving under the influence after being arrested at about 12:45 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Brookfield Car Wash at 9545 Ogden Ave., according to reports.

Police said a car was parked at the west end of the car wash, and an officer saw it was running with its headlights on. Officers noticed Powers asleep in the driver’s seat and knocked on the window to try and wake him. When that did not work, officers opened the unlocked door, according to reports.

Powers failed the field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer, police said.

Riverside
Flat tire leads to DUI charge
Edson Brito, 19, of Chicago was charged with DUI after being arrested at about 1:15 a.m. Oct. 9 at Ogden Avenue and Miller Road, according to reports.

Officers followed Brito driving along Ogden with a flat tire and conducted a traffic stop after the car went through a red light, police said. Brito said he was going to his brother’s house and never gave an answer as to why he was driving on a flat tire, according to reports.

Brito admitted to having two large cups of vodka, police said. He failed the field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of .222, police said. Brito threw up in the booking room at the station, according to reports.

Teens face battery charges
Johnathan Bailey, 17, of North Riverside, and Derick Collins, 17, of Brookfield were charged with battery and mob action after being arrested at about 10:15 a.m. Oct. 9 at Riverside Brookfield High School, 160 Ridgewood Road, according to reports.

Officers were dispatched to RBHS for a fight that had just occurred. Bailey and Collins allegedly ambushed another student in the foreign language hallway and did not stop fighting until the faculty could break up the fight, according to reports.

Police said the incident stemmed from a previous verbal argument that had taken place in Broadview.
