Lyons Township High School’s radio station, WLTL 88.1, is hosting a Rock-A-Thon to raise money for the station. The event will begin at 5 a.m. Feb. 17, and conclude at 9:06 p.m. Feb. 20, for a total of 88.1 continuous hours. LTTV will also broadcast and stream video live over the internet and cable.

This is the station’s 30th year of Rock-A-Thon, and the students have made it their goal to raise $30,000 in pledges by the end of the weekend. Listeners will be able to call pledges into 708-482-9585 or donate online by clicking the link available at www.wltl.net <http://www.wltl.net/> .

In addition to listening to Rock-A-Thon at 88.1 FM or online. LTTV will once again broadcast all 88 hours of Rock-A-Thon live on Comcast Cable Channel 99, AT&T U-Verse and stream on-line.

In addition, there will be giveaways for listeners, plus a silent auction that will include a stay in Cape Cod, MA, a signed Patrick Kane Chicago Blackhawks jersey, a behind the scenes tour of North Campus (including a trip up the bell tower) and a tour and lunch at ABC 7 Chicago.

Money raised from the weekend will not only support WLTL throughout the next year, but will also help defray the cost of upgrading the on-air studio and production rooms with a new control board, among other equipment. The current control boards were installed in 1997 and are reaching the end of their usefulness.
