Janice Borla will perform her “Jazz From Every Angle” concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph Chapel, 1515 W. Ogden Ave., La Grange Park. She will be accompanied by The Janice Borla Group, as part of the Sisters’ MusicAlive! concert series.
Known for her lustrous sound and superb technique, Borla plays her voice like an instrument, said concert organizers. Her recordings and performances earn consistently high praise from critics across the country. The Jazz Times describes her as, “Genius. Pure genius.”
Borla is director of vocal jazz for the jazz studies program at North Central College in Naperville, and is founder of the “Vocal Jazz Camp/6 Cool Nites Series,” celebrating its 20th season.
The Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph, known for hospitality and a love of the arts and music, offers music performances to the public. Tickets cost $21, $23 at the door; $15 for seniors/students; and $18 for group tickets of six or more. A reception with light refreshments follows the performance.
