More than 50,000 missing adults cases are active in the United States, according to the National Center for Missing Adults. Only a handful will receive the widespread media coverage of cases such as Stacy Peterson and Lisa Stebic. Throughout the past year, families of local missing persons, including the six featured on the left, have worked together to keep their stories in the media spotlight and to share resources in their search for their missing loved ones.
