School district seeking adult volunteers for FANS program

Valley View School District is seeking volunteers to assist with Friends and Neighbors Supporting Students (FANS).

The organization provides assistance to students in many areas, including mentoring, and interacting with students at all levels of schooling.

Tasks can include: meeting/greeting students during high traffic periods before and after school, or during lunch periods; serving as bi-lingual tutors; reading assistants;, as well as others.

The next training session for FANS helpers is 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Valley View Administrative Center, 755 Dalhart Ave., Romeoville.

Other sessions are scheduled for March 21 and April 21.
