No one injured in Bartlett house fire

Bartlett firefighters responded to house fire 1043 Knollwood Lane yesterday.

No one was injured in the blaze, but the fire caused about $200,000 in damage. A neighbor’s house also sustained heat damage.

Firefighters responded shortly before 2 p.m. and were assisted by fire departments in Carol Stream, South Elgin, Elgin, Roselle, Hanover Park, Schaumburg and Streatmwood.

The blaze caused heavy fire damage to the east and rear of the building and caused sagging on the second floor.

Fire officials said originated from a hole in the firebox of the fireplace and no smoke detectors were found.

Officials are using the incident to remind residents to have their fireplaces checked annually.
