Suspect crashes car into brick wall while fleeing police Tuesday

A Carol Stream and Schaumburg resident were charged today with car burglary and other felonies after fleeing police in a stolen vehicle in unicorporated Glen Ellyn late Tuesday morning, according to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

Nicholas Castiglia, 25, of the 800 block of Woodhill Drive, Carol Stream; and Melissa Warner, 23, of the 1100 block of Knollwood Drive in Schaumburg, were located by police after a report was filed of a purse being stolen at KinderCare near Route 53 and Butterfield Road.

Local businesses were given a description of the suspects’ car. At 11:15 a.m., police received a report of the car in a Walmart parking lot.

Police attempted to pull the car over, but the car continued south on Route 53 until it crashed into a brick wall at Route 53 and Tamarack Street in Glen Ellyn. The suspects fled on foot, but were captured and taken into custody.

 Castiglia and Warner are both charged with one count of aggravated fleeing and eluding in a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary to a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a credit card.
