A vehicle chase that started in Elmhurst around 11:30 this morning ended in Glendale Heights after the driver crashed into several cars and took off on foot.
In the area where the crash happened, a portion of Army Trail Road in front of Bally Total Fitness, 265 E. Army Trail Road, is still closed while police continue clearing the road.
According to Sgt. Michael Wiehe from the Elmhurst Police Department, a man stole a truck around 11:30 a.m. or noon today and drove through several jurisdictions trying to escape the police.
The man hit several cars on Army Trail Road and according to Wiehe, one of the Elmhurst squad cars was involved in the crash.
Paul Schranz, manager at the Bally Total Fitness, said after the driver hit several cars, the man took off on foot through the fitness center and police took him down outside the back of the building.
The man is currently being held at the Addison Police Department. Check back for more updates.
