Two people were killed in a house fire in unincorporated DuPage County Monday.
Around 1:45 p.m. Monday, agencies were dispatched to a structure fire at 24W630 Lawrence Ave., Keeneyville, in unincorporated DuPage County.
Upon arrival, the Bloomingdale Fire Department said it found one victim unconscious outside and witnesses reported at least one other person inside. According to reports, people were jumping out of the building from windows.
Steven N. Elliot, 32, and Lori Ann Breese, 37, both residents of the house, were pronounced dead at the scene. Bloomingdale Fire Department transported house resident Cesar L. Euan, Bolingbrook resident Edith L. Hernandez, an 11-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy to Glen Oaks Hospital in Glendale Heights. The victims’ conditions were unavailable.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force, according to the sheriff’s office.
Assisting agencies at the scene included Bartlett, Carol Stream, Roselle, Addison, Glenside, Hanover Park, Itasca and Wood Dale.
