
A man wanted for attempted murder is currently in the custody of Hanover Park Police after a 13-hour standoff that began Saturday.
Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Bamberg Court, the Hanover Park Police Department tried to arrest a man who was wanted on a warrant for attempted murder from the Emmett Township Police Department in Michigan.
Upon contact, the man said he was armed with a handgun and threatened to harm the police as well as himself, and then barricaded himself inside the house, according to police.
The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System’s Emergency Services team responded to the scene to assist. Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, the man surrendered to police.
No one was injured during the standoff, and the man is currently in custody of the Hanover Park Police Department, pending charges.
