Oak Brook, IL -

Local artist Judith Barath will be showing her work at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook at an exhibition called “Oak Brook Celebrates: An Oak Brook Artist.”

A reception opens the show Sept. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. Pieces will be on display through Nov. 2, with public viewing hours on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The art show and reception are part of the “Oak Brook Celebrates” series honoring the 50th anniversary of Oak Brook. Admission is free, though donations to the Mayslake Hall Restoration Fund are welcome.

Barath has made Oak Brook her home for over a decade, and finds much inspiration in flowers and natural landscapes. She looks for harmony and simple beauty in her subjects, and creates paintings, photographs and digital images.

After graduating from a design and graphic arts university in Budapest, Hungary, with a degree in graphic design, Barath worked as an illustrator for children’s books, record covers and movie posters and even designed animated television commercials. Her fine-art pieces have been part of numerous shows and exhibitions.

Mayslake Peabody Estate is located at 1717 W. 31st St., one-quarter mile west of Route 83. For information on this and the many other programs at the estate, call (630) 206-9566.
