• A Support our Troops campaign is currently underway in Willowbrook and Burr Ridge. Area residents, churches, Scouting troops and organizations are invited to donate sundry items that will be mailed to military personnel serving overseas. Suggested donations include toothbrushes, tooth paste, small bottles of shampoo, lotion and gel, sunt tan lotion, lip balm, tissues, bandages, playing cards and non-perishable snack such as dried fruits, nuts and powdered drinks. Cash donations also are welcome to handle postage costs. Contributions may be brought by Dec. 1 to the Willowbrook Police Department located at 7760 Quincy St., or to the Burr Ridge Police Department, 7660 S. County Line Road. • The Community-Based Services Division of The British Home in Brookfield is making a technology team available to come out to local seniors’ homes to assess how homeowners’ television sets will be affected by the federally mandated digital conversion. The assessment will include helping seniors determine whether they need a converter box, helping them apply for converter box coupons, and basic converter box installation.
