Officials at District 99 have said they have no cases of swine flu and they are increasing reminders to students to take precautions.
There has been no up-tick in absences at either Downers Grove North or South high schools.
“The first response has been to promote good hygiene. There are increasing messages reminding students to wash hands,” said District spokeswoman Faith Behr.
Behr said a few years ago the District installed hand sanitizer dispensers in the cafeterias. Behr said there has been increased awareness about making sure those dispensers, as well as soap dispensers, stay full.
Along with routine cleaning, Behr said there is a thorough cleaning schedule in place of all the schools’ areas.
A notice about swine flu was posted on the District’s Web site Thursday. To view the notice, visit csd99.org.
