Morton College’s Mishae Miles received an invitation to attend the College Coaches Network’s JUCO Top 120 Women’s Basketball Showcase, scheduled for July 9-11 at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.
Organizers describe the NCAA certified event as an opportunity for coaches at four-year colleges and universities to evaluate the top junior college women’s basketball players in the country.
Miles, a 5-10 freshman forward from Chicago’s Maria High School, ranked in the top 10 in two categories among National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division II players. Her 13.3 rebounds per game placed her sixth in the category, while she was 10th in blocked shots at 3.1 per game. Her 85 blocked shots was the nation’s sixth-highest figure.
In 27 games, Miles shot 49.3 percent from the field and averaged 13.9 points per game. She also led the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference in rebounding at 15.5 per game to go along with her 14.4 points per contest.
Miles also earned all-Region IV Player of the Week honors this season.
“This is a tremendous honor and opportunity for Mishae,” Morton College women’s basketball coach Larry Lanciotti said. “It will give her a tremendous amount of exposure and help reach her goal of playing at a four-year school. Being with other players from across the country will enable Mishae to see where her game is at.”
The Panthers finished 8-22 overall and 4-10 in the Skyway last winter. Morton College showed a five-game improvement in the win column from the previous season.
