Berwyn, IL -

Brian Heimerdinger's goal early on in the first half held up for Lyons Township as it edged Morton 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Berwyn.

Down on the Mustangs' half of the field with 31:13 remaining in regulation, Heimerdinger received a crossing pass from Elliot Borge and splashed the back of the net.

"I just volleyed it in," Heimerdinger said. "Our strategy against Morton today was we know we're better in the air than them. So, we wanted to hit the ball to the back as much as we could."

The Lions were able to hold on during the final minutes of the game by limiting the Mustangs' offensive opportunities. Goalie Kevin Beglen, who has been filling in for the injured Sully Fox, posted the shutout.
