Berwyn police are on the lookout for the driver of a Dodge Charger responsible for the hit-and-run death of a construction worker on Ogden Avenue early Sunday.
Orlando Farias, 47, of Elgin was killed after being struck at about 6:15 a.m. Sunday by a car at the intersection of Ogden and Lombard avenues.
Police Detective Roger Montoro said Farias was working on painting street lines on the new pavement on Ogden Avenue when he was struck by a black Dodge Charger.
The car that struck Farias fled westbound on Ogden from the scene, and police said the vehicle has front end and hood damage, along with a missing hood emblem.
Farias was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Montoro said the Police Department has received leads from those in the area at the time of the incident, but none have led to the arrest of the driver.
Two other workers were standing with Farias when he was struck and a cab driver who witnessed the accident followed the Dodge Charger but did not take down the car’s license plate number, Montoro said.
Anyone with information relating to the incident should call the Police Department at (708) 795-5600.
