Apartment burglarized
Unknown people broke into and vandalized an apartment on the 2200 block of Gunderson Avenue, according to a June 29 police report.

The report said the vandals used an open window to enter the apartment, where they punched a hole in a wall and made graffiti with spray paint, marker, pen and crayon.

According to police, the landlord said the tenant of that apartment had not been home for about three weeks.

Car windshield broken
A 72-year-old resident said someone broke the windshield of his 2003 blue Mercury Monterey, which was parked behind 1905 Harlem Ave., according to police reports.
Officers said the damage occurred between 2 p.m. June 27 and 4 p.m. June 28.

Wheelchair, cell phones taken
A wheelchair and two cellular telephones were stolen from a GMC Jimmy parked in an alley on the 6700 block of 34th Street, according to police reports.
The vehicle was not locked when the it was entered at about 9 p.m. July 5, police said.

Book bag missing
A 30-year-old resident reported that her book bag was stolen from her car, which was parked on the 2100 block of Cuyler Avenue, according to police.

The woman said someone smashed the rear driver’s side window of her 2001 Nissan Sentra and stole the bag between 10 p.m. June 28 and 10:45 a.m. June 29, officers reported.

Four men charged in fight
Three Berwyn residents and a Darien man were charged with mob action after police found them kicking a man in the head, face and chest in the alley between the 1400 blocks of Elmwood and Gunderson avenues, according to officers.

Officers were called to the area after residents reported a fight, according to reports. Police arrived to find about a dozen people fighting in the alley, where a man was lying on the ground and others were kicking him, reports said.

Most of those involved in the fight ran away when officers arrived, according to reports. Police charged Marcos Zacarias, 18, of Darien, Rogelio Gonzalez, 21, of Berwyn, Miguel Guzman, 21, of Berwyn, and Javier Delossantos, 19, of Berwyn, with mob action in connection with the fight, reports said.
