Man charged with DUI after hitting light pole
Julio C. Zuniga, 22, of Chicago was charged with drunken driving after police found his 1997 Chevrolet Lumina resting on top of a stop sign at 36th Street and Harlem Avenue at about 2 a.m. June 14, police said.
The patrol officer who stopped at the scene noticed the smell of alcohol when checking Zuniga for injuries. Zuniga told police he had been out drinking and was driving home.
Another vehicle cut him off, Zuniga reported, forcing him to swerve into and knock down a light pole on the 3600 block of Harlem and then knock over the stop sign.
Zuniga was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, damage to a light pole, damage to a stop sign and driving with a revoked license, police said. An initial court hearing was scheduled for July 23.
Woman charged with driving with a suspended license
Police said Erika Molina, 25, of Cicero was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license after being arrested at about 6:15 a.m. April 17.
Molina was driving westbound on Ogden Avenue approaching Middaugh Road at the time of the incident, police reports said.
