Berwyn man charged with theft, domestic battery
Nicholas Alvarado, 25, of the 2100 block of South Grove Avenue, was charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of theft after an incident with a female acquaintance near the intersection of Grove Avenue and 21st Street at about 7:30 a.m. May 22, police said.
The 19-year-old victim told police that she and Alvarado were in a verbal argument when he grabbed her glasses from her face and snatched her purse, police said.
Officers later recovered the woman’s purse in a stairwell of Alvarado’s building and arrested him, police said.
Grill stolen from woman’s entryway
A gas grill was stolen from the front steps of a residence on the 1500 block of South Home Avenue between 5 p.m. May 20 and 5:15 p.m. May 22, police said.
The owner said the grill had been chained to the railing on the steps leading to the apartment, police said. The victim did not remember the make or model of the grill but said it had a gray cover.
Berwyn man charged with domestic battery
David Arroyo, 23, of the 3100 block of Oak Park Avenue, was charged with domestic battery after an incident at about midnight May 22, police said.
A 27-year-old female acquaintance of Arroyo’s told police that she had been in Arroyo’s residence and had asked for a ride home, police said. Arroyo did not let her leave, grabbed her and slapped the left side of her face, causing her mouth to bleed, police said.
The woman then fought off Arroyo, leaving a small cut on the left side of his head, according to reports. When police arrived, Arroyo admitted to the fight but told police the woman had been the aggressor.
Arroyo could not, however, explain why the woman was bleeding, police said. He later was arrested, charged with domestic battery and given a preliminary court date of June 2.
Berwyn resident charged with battery
Hinsdale police said Adam Bader, 24, of Berwyn, was charged with battery after being arrested at about 6:15 p.m. May 13 at Hinsdale Hospital, 120 N. Oak Street.
Bader allegedly made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with hospital employees and security guards, police said.
CICERO
Resident charged with retail theft
Alvaro Flores, 42, of Cicero was charged with retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown Shopping Center, in Lombard, according to police reports.
Officers said the theft happened at about 2:30 p.m. May 27.
Police charge Cicero resident with DUI
Police said a man was charged with drunken driving after being stopped in connection with erratic driving and speeding about 2:30 a.m. April 26 in the northbound lane of Interstate 55 south of Cass Avenue.
Sergio Becerra, 24, of Cicero, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane use.
