Site burglarized
A trailer at a construction site in the 7000 block of West Roosevelt Road was burglarized, the site’s superintendent reported at about 7:30 a.m. May 11, according to police reports.
Police said entry was made by breaking a back window on the trailer. A laptop power cord and shipping boxes were stolen. The contents of the boxes were not immediately known.
School door damaged
A window on the entrance door to Piper School, 2435 Kenilworth Ave., was broken between May 9 and 11, police said. The window was shattered but still intact. Police found an out of place landscaping timber that was apparently used to damage the window, according to police reports.
Home burglarized
A home in the 6700 block of West Riverside Drive was burglarized at about 2:45 p.m. May 11, police said.
Police were alerted to the crime by a burglary alarm in the home. Officers found a double-paned window on the basement wall had been broken and was the apparent point of entry, police said.
Dresser drawers in a bedroom had been ransacked. The same dresser had $12,000 stolen from it on April 17, police said.
Two nearby residents told police they each saw a man running from the area around the time of the burglary, police said. The witnesses were not able to provide details of the man or men they saw.
Rocks thrown at window
A resident in the 2200 block of South Clarence Avenue reported gunshots near his home at about 11 p.m. May 11, police said.
When police arrived, the resident said the sounds he heard turned out to be from three rocks that had been thrown and hit his home’s windows, police said. Three different rocks were thrown at three different windows.
The resident said he saw someone running south in the 2300 block of South Clarence Avenue but could not provide a detailed description of the person.
