A man died after falling from the parking garage at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn Saturday, Nov.  7.

Officers responded to the parking garage on Windsor Avenue at about 3:50 p.m. Saturday and found Matthew Sula, 26, of Naperville unresponsive near the entrance of the garage, according to Berwyn City Administrator Brian Pabst.

Berwyn police declined to comment on the incident Saturday night and forwarded all questions to Pabst Monday, Nov. 9.

Two witnesses on the scene told police they were driving westbound on Windsor Avenue when they saw Sula fall to the ground outside the entrance of the parking garage, Pabst said. The witnesses were not sure what level of the six-story parking garage Sula fell from, Pabst said.

Sula was transported to the emergency room at MacNeal Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:28 p.m.

Pabst said Sula had a history of depression and police are treating the incident as a suicide.

Officers were clear of the scene by 7 p.m. Saturday night.
