Berwyn, IL -

City Collector Debi Suchy called police to City Hall this week during a heated debate she had with 6th Ward Alderman Michael Phelan related to the purchase of a Berwyn vehicle sticker, according to police reports.

“I was concerned about the personal safety of myself and the other city employees,” Suchy said.

Phelan came to Suchy’s office Tuesday evening to purchase a city vehicle sticker, reports said. The last day to purchase the stickers was Monday, and Phelan objected to paying a late fee, according to reports. The alderman made an insulting comment to the department head, and she called police to have him removed from City Hall.

“There was no argument,” Phelan said. “I’m still trying to figure out why police were called.”

Phelan left City Hall on his own, reports say. No arrests were made, and no  charges were filed.
