Writer casting his vote for Karasek for Park Board
As a longtime Berwyn resident, I strongly encourage a vote for Edward Karasek for the Berwyn Park District Board.
He has all the qualifications which are necessary to continue to move the Park District forward. He has experience in Park Board policies and a knowledge of sound business practices. Most importantly, he is a man of integrity with a deep devotion to the Berwyn parks and our community.

Morton basketball team united communities
First I would like to congratulate the entire Morton varsity basketball team on a wonderful season.
I also would like to say thank you to Coach Martinucci and Coach Belcaster on a wonderful job they did with the kids, you guys should be very proud of what you guys accomplished. Although the season ended with a loss to Whitney Young, please know this, the team came away as champions in all of our hearts.
As a resident of Cicero and a 1988 alumnus of Morton, I could not be any more proud of a group of kids. The team not only has instilled pride back into our school, they actually united two divided towns that are always at odds. The kids showed not only their fellow students but all adults that anything can be achieved if you have team work. Our community leaders and adults alike should take note.
I will take with me many fond memories from this season. It was simply a joy to watch this team in action, from our marvelous starters all the way down to our bench players. To our outgoing seniors, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, I'm sure what ever it is you will succeed.
o our underclassman coming back next year, I wish you all the best because you guys will have some big shoes to fill, but I have confidence that you guys will continue the great tradition of Morton basketball.
Again I would like to thank the entire Morton team for not only making your coaches, fellow students, the Morton staff and administration, and your family proud, but an entire community as well. Go Mustangs.

Editorial cartoon draws criticism from reader
Your editorial cartoonist (The Life, March 18) is wrong on at least two counts: First, he seems to be trying to show “religion” as a roadblock to stem-cell research. Not so. The church has consistently encouraged such research, using either adult stem cells, or those from umbilical cord blood. These are readily, and morally, available, and have shown some success.
The church says “no” to embryonic stem cell research, because it involves experimenting on, and eventually killing, human life.
Second, to pit religion and science against each other is quite ignorant. The cartoonist needs to expand his resources to include access to truth.
