Berwyn police need to enforce ADA laws better
As a Riverside resident for 25 years, I would like to publicly thank the Riverside Police Department for enforcing American Disability Act laws. Placards are checked and made sure that disabled people are using these spaces.

Lyons and Stickney are also doing a great job here. Spots are always available for the Disabled.
Unfortunately, neighboring towns don’t seem to make this a priority. I was very upset going to the Berwyn Walgreens again, in the rain, and not being able to park in a handicapped spot as they were taken by vehicles illegally parked there, without even a front plate on the blue van that took the first spot. I have discussed this problem with a couple police officers already and was promised they would try to enforce these laws better.

After today, I find myself wondering how long it will take to make a town ADA compliant? And, why is it so easy for towns like Riverside to be able to enforce the law?

I have asthma, carcinoid cancer and a blood cancer and had to walk far to get to the pharmacy to pick up two medications needed for today. I got tired and was in an asthma attack, so I went out to my car and drove through the drive-through.

These laws must be enforced so that all people have access to a store, etc.
Thanks again to Riverside, Lyons and Stickney for doing a great job enforcing the ADA law and respecting the rights of the disabled.

New fire station welcome sight
I’m so glad I was able to attend the memorial dedication of the North Berwyn 16th Street fire station. It’s a beautiful building, and the “crew” have to really feel better with more space.

It’s sad to think money has not been available for such an eternity on a much-needed facility. I’ve lived in Berwyn since it was built in the 1920s.

God bless and protect the men and women at their new facility. It’s good to have them back in the neighborhood.
