Berwyn’s 2010 National Night Out was recently recognized by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn through the Governor's Hometown Award program.

The city was awarded in the “services and mentorship category.” According to a statement from city officials, the 2010 event was hosted by more than 150 volunteers and was attended by more than 5,800 people. It was recongized as the top National Night Out event in the state for Berwyn's population category and the 10th-best event nationally.

The city will receive a road sign and a plaque in recognition of the award.
