The city of Berwyn and town of Cicero have begun their search for this year's Houby Day Queen and her court.
The contest is restricted to unmarried Cicero and Berwyn residents between the ages of 16 and 21. Applications are available at Cicero Town Hall, 4949 Cermak Road, and the Berwyn Main Street office at 6723 Cermak Road.

Applications are due Sept. 8, and there is no application fee.

Applicants will be trained by the Peggy Rose Dance Academy in Berwyn for a pageant on Sept. 29 that will determine this year's Houby Day Queen. The Houby Day Queen will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Houby Day will take place Sunday, Oct. 2, this year, but a full event schedule and the parade route have not yet been determined.

The event’s coordinators also are looking for sponsors, vendors and crafters for this year’s events.
For more information, call Berwyn Main Street, Berwyn's designated coordinator, at (708) 484-8000 or the Cicero Department of Special Events at (708) 656-3600 ext. 288.
