Well here it is folks: the one column I tried not to write because there really is no answer to this question! Some people think they know the answer, but they really do not! The burning question is does God want to heal disabled people?
Okay, let’s look at this question from all three sides. First, to the many people who firmly believe the answer is “yes.” Most people in this group never were disabled. They have a deep love for God and they always live by the Bible. A few weeks ago I had an encounter with such a man and I just could not get a word in edgewise. He just knew that “demons” were the cause of my disability and if he prayed hard enough, God would surely “heal” me. No, that did not work.
Now what about disabled people themselves? Yes, I would love to be “normal.” However, it has not happened yet! Moreover, I will not get my hopes up. I must be happy with my life as it is.
I really cannot speak for God. However, I do know God’s way of thinking is not like man’s way of thinking. And for the man at the train station? I think God wants him to accept other people as they are.
