Berwyn, IL -

Always on top of things, the Berwyn Public Library just wrapped up its successful summer reading program so now it is jumping on board announcing its September programs in the Youth Services Department.

“Mojo’s Bananas about Books” is the title of the fall reading program open to children in fifth grade and younger, according to Kristy Gilbert, school liaison and youth services chairman at the Berwyn library.

A number of incentives are available to readers. Children who meet or exceed their reading goal will win a cuddly bookmark and a gift certificate from Noah’s Ark. They also will receive an invitation to a party at the library where they will be able to enjoy banana splits with Mojo the Monkey. Ten lucky readers also will be chosen to stuff a Halloween teddy bear to keep.

The entire reading program is sponsored by Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop and runs from Saturday, Sept. 1, through Sunday, Sept. 30.

Reading logs are available at the Youth Services Desk in the library, located at 2701 S. Harlem Ave.

September Family Storytime will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, in the Community Room of the library. Children ages 11 and younger and their families can come hear stories, sing songs and make a craft during the story time.
