Berwyn, IL -

Berwyn streets were not always called the names by which they are now known. While some street names remained the same, others have changed through the years.

In the case of East and Kenilworth avenues, evidence of their former names are seen in the schools.

The namesake of South Berwyn District 100’s Hiawatha School comes from the former name of East Avenue.

In the same school district, Irving School drew its name from its location around 35th Street and Kenilworth Avenue.
