A 29-year-old Western Springs woman has died Thursday from the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.
The department said the woman did have an underlying health condition.
A spokeswoman from the department said they will not be releasing the woman's name.
“Although we’ve expected to see more H1N1 influenza-related deaths, they are tragic, and I cannot stress enough the importance of remaining vigilant in preventing the spread of the illness,” said the department’s COO Stephen Martin Jr., in a written statement.
The department said as of Thursday, there are 624 laboratory confirmed cases, four probable cases and four H1N1-related deaths reported in suburban Cook County.
