Riverside, IL -

Four female students have been suspended for fighting at Riverside Brookfield High School.

A Riverside police officer was at RB dealing with another issue and was advised of a fight in the hallway at about 12:10 p.m. at the school, 160 Ridgewood Road, Riverside.

The girls were exchanging words during the passing period after gym class when one slapped another with an open hand, according to police. Two girls, ages 14 and 17, were sisters, and were fighting two other girls, both age 16, police said.

Two of the girls were sent to the principal’s office, and the other two were supposed to speak to the gym teacher, police said. The two girls instead waited in the stairwell outside of the principal’s office, according to police. When the girls left the principal’s office, one girl ran up to another and punched her in the back of the head, police said.

Each student was issued a local ordinance ticket for disorderly conduct, police said. Each girl will either have to pay a fine or complete community service as a result of the ticket, police said.

Their court date is at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 at the Maybrook Courthouse, 1500 Maybrook Drive in Maywood.

In addition, officials at RB suspended the girls for 19 days each, according to the school.
