Police warn residents of
suspicious repair scam
Police are sending a warning to residents about a possible home repair scam after two men entered a home last week. The first man was invited in at about 12:15 p.m. Dec. 14 in the 400 block of Winthrop Avenue, then distracted the homeowner while a second man entered the home, police said.
According to police, the homeowner said a man knocked on his door and told the resident his father used to work on the home and asked if he needed any work done. Police said the homeowner invited the man in and they discussed repairs.
A second man entered the front door while the resident was at the back of the home with the first man. The resident noticed the man enter the home, and he went back outside.
Police said the resident then asked the first man to leave, but he refused and continued to discuss home repairs. The man left only after the resident threatened to call police.
The two men left the area in a dark blue vehicle, police said. Nothing was reported taken from the home, and no further description was given of either suspect.

Car reported damaged
on Wenbriar Square
Police said a resident reported that the driver’s side door of a Chevrolet was scratched. The incident was reported at about 1:45 p.m. Dec. 11 in the 400 block of Wenbriar Square Drive, police said.
No damage estimate was given.

Maywood man allegedly
drives away from police
Clarence E. Perry, 46, of Maywood was charged with theft, driving with a revoked license, no insurance, fleeing or attempting to elude police, no seat belt, driving too fast for conditions, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The incident was reported at about 1:15 p.m. Nov. 30 near Bernard Drive and Lombard Road, police said.
According to police, Perry allegedly stole a rotary hammer drill from Grainger Corp., 1545 W. Fullerton Ave., and was sitting in is vehicle on the business property, when police were called.
Police said when an officer approached Perry’s vehicle, he then allegedly fled, heading eastbound on Lombard Road with the officer in pursuit. Police said Perry then struck a street light at Bernard Drive and Lombard Road, and the case containing the drill was found in the back seat, police said.

Wheaton man charged
with public drunkenness
Russell Mason, 43, of Wheaton was charged with public intoxication at about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20 in the 100 block of West Irving Park Road, police said.

Lobby window of apartment
damaged with pellet gun
Police said a resident of an apartment complex in the 200 block of West Sonny Lane reported that windows in the lobby of the building were damaged with a pellet gun. The incident was reported at about 11:30 a.m. Dec. 20, police said.
No damage estimate was given in the incident.

Snow blower reported taken
from driveway of property
A resident in the 700 block of South York Road reported that a snow blower was stolen while it was parked in the driveway of the residence. The theft was reported at about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 20, police said. No loss estimate was given.

Wood Dale
Juvenile charged after
two-car accident
Police said a 16-year-old male from Bensenville was charged with driving without a license after police said he was involved in a two-car accident at about 5 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 300 block of Hemlock Avenue.
Police said no one was injured in the accident.
