The village of Bensenville will host several public discussion sessions about the importance of child safety restraint seats from May 19 through Memorial Day Weekend.
The following events are being planned:
Noon to 1 p.m. Monday, May 19 at Village Hall, 12 S. Center Street
4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 at the Bensenville Library, 200 S. Church Road.
Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at Sundae’s Too Ice Cream Shoppe, 13 S. Center St.
6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at the Redmond Recreational Complex, 735 E. Jefferson St.
4 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 23 at the Bensenville Library.
Police said the state “Booster Law” went into effect in 2004, making it illegal to transport an unrestrained child in Illinois. The Child Passenger Protection Act requires that all children up to their eighth birthday must be secured in an appropriate child restraint system.
As these are primary moving violations, motorists can be stopped and ticketed if a child is observed to be improperly restrained.
