
Illinois State Police will be patrolling the Reagan Memorial Tollway eastbound at Meyers Road starting Friday night.
Officers will be looking for drivers who are operating unsafe vehicles, driving under the influence, violating the open container law, or driving on a suspended or revoked license.
“We have zero-tolerance for drunk drivers in Illinois,” said Illinois State Police Director Jonathon Monken in a news release.
According to Illinois State Police, alcohol and drug impairment are a “significant factor” in more than 40 percent of fatal motor vehicle crashes.
On overnight check Aug. 29 to 30 was held at the same location. The officers issued the following citations and warnings:
• 1 registration offense warning
• 14 citations, 1 warning for driver’s license offenses
• 4 citations for occupant restraint offenses
• 1 citation for equipment offense
• 2 alcohol or drug arrests
• 9 citations for no insurance
• 1 wanted on warrant for arrest
