Eight firefighters from the Bensenville Fire Protection District showed off their new skills of properly installing child car seats last month.
The firefighters completed a 32-hour course on proper installation of car seats, and part of the requirement to pass the class was to hold a special event to have residents come by the fire station to have their child car seats inspected, according to Bensenville Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Larry Karp.
Karp said more than 10 residents came by during the event last month, and is still inviting anyone who needs assistance with car seat installation to go to their station at 500 S. York Road.
Karp said at least two or three firefighters on each shift are trained to properly install a car seat.
