Met Tuesday

Noteworthy The board again extended a temporary contract with Minnesota-based A’viands for food service at the DuPage County Jail. This extension runs through the end of October. A long-term contract has been under dispute for more than a year and is currently in its fourth round of bidding. County Board member Michael McMahon, R-3rd District, of Hinsdale, previously said the matter would be settled by the end of June.

Other news

- The board postponed a vote on a temporary sign for a Jimmy John’s restaurant on Route 53 near Woodridge.

-The board approved $420,000 in contracts with lobbyists to represent county interests on the state and federal level. Democratic candidate Richard Dunn of Glen Ellyn criticized the expense during public comment, but board member Brien Sheahan, R-2nd District, of Elmhurst, said lobbyists help the county secure $7 million to $11 million in state and federal grants each year. 

-The board approved $48,000 in local matching funds to Pace for the College of DuPage Connector bus service.
